STEVE SINGLETON began his career as an assistant in the cutting rooms in the seventies, working on various shorts and documentaries using both 16mm and 35mm film.

He moved to ATV (Elstree studios) where he became a Film Editor. He spent 10 years editing for ATV, working on a huge variety of popular programmes ranging from situation comedies to documentaries to lavish costume dramas.

During his time at ATV he travelled extensively to Sweden to edit the award winning drama series “ANNIKA” a love story set in both London and Stockholm.

He also travelled to New York where he worked with prolific filmmaker D.A. PENNEBAKER on a documentary profile of John de Lorean the U.S car manufacturer.

He left ATV in 1982 to become a Freelance Film Editor and to form PARTING SHOTS – which became one of London’s leading film post production houses.

At PARTING SHOTS he went on to edit many films for both television and cinema, working alongside some of Britain’s leading directors including:

LOOKS AND SMILES” directed by KEN LOACH winner of a major prize at the Cannes Film Festival.

BIRTH OF A NATION” directed by MIKE NEWELL winner of the PRIX FUTURA at the Berlin Film Festival.

MADE IN BRITAIN” directed by ALAN CLARKE winner of the top television award the PRIX ITALIA.

After 10 successful years at Parting Shots he decided to concentrate on editing only and since then has edited many many dramas for a variety of broadcasters including BBC, ITV, NBC, HBO and his work has taken him all over the UK and to South Africa, Canada, Prague, Budapest, Ireland and Portugal.
